Lockerley Water Farm

Colin and Marie

Colin’s work had taken his family to live in the States and cities across Europe, and now his wife Marie and he were looking for an English Retreat, in which they could live for a few years while their children concluded their education.

After a briefing with Premier Property Search including their ideas about area, location and type of property they would like, Colin and Marie spent 2 days viewing potential properties with Nigel from Premier Property Search. During that time, they realised that some of their wish-list was redundant, whilst other, more critical factors should be added. In particular, the family's sudden yearning for the 'middle of nowhere' led Premier Property Search to recommend an area in which they had bought five properties previously.

Sitting between Salisbury and Winchester, and within reach of Stockbridge and Romsey, Lockerley is an idyllic village on the road to nowhere in particular. Premier Property Search identified some interesting farm buildings for conversion that were about to be marketed and showed them Lockerley Water Farm, with a warning that 'its not much to look at'.

Close to the River Dun and commanding beautiful views across this unspoilt corner of Hampshire, the farm nonetheless required work. The house and surrounding garden needed extensive renovation and landscaping respectively, but the couple fell in love with the feel of the place. They remained there until the departure of their last child to university signalled another change of pace –this time to a purpose-built property in southern Spain.

Colin sums it up in this way: 'We have spent some of our happiest years at Lockerley Water Farm, and we will always be grateful to Nigel Sellers for his insight into our needs – and the detailed knowledge of the English countryside that led him to match us with this home.'
