In this, the latest in our series of blogs examining the top reasons for moving, we take a look at the third biggest motivator for families wanting to move home - a change in lifestyle.
There are plenty of clients who say that living in the country is simply not an option as they have to be at their desk at work by 7.00am. This is often to do with differing time zones, financial markets and international business.
However, many find that the change in lifestyle that moving to the suburbs brings, or going the whole hog and experiencing country living, is the best decision they ever made.
When you also consider safety issues and the on-going security threats in major cities and the Capital, they make the whole proposition even more appealing.
What will be fascinating to monitor over the next five years is the change of lifestyle when the Crossrail linking Reading and Essex and the electrification of the western line between London and Bristol are completed. This in the short term is likely to suppress the value of many houses and inconvenience house owners that will be directly affected, but conversely, there will be many areas that benefit. There is no doubt that there will be house value increases, particularly in areas previously out of scope for commuters, brought by these improved important communication rail links.
Provided there is fast broadband and good mobile phone reception, many business executives are keen to benefit from a more rural lifestyle with their families and are prepared to look and consider buying in more widely spread geographical areas than ever before.
